Sacred Heart Wins 50th State Championship!!

We want to congratulate the Sacred Heart Indians and their coaches on winning the 2007 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) State Football Championship. A special commendation goes to the following five seniors who led the team throughout the season: Brandon Bludau, Andrew Herndon, Clayton Mikes, Garet Pustejovsky, and Marshall Sevcik. These young men all earned All-District and All-State Honors and Academic All-State Honors.
The 2007 State Football Championship is the 50th State Championship won by Sacred Heart, which includes 47 athletic state championships and 3 instrumental band state championships. We also have won the TAPPS Overall State Championship 7 times (1989, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007).
Ninety-nine percent of our high school students were involved in the state championship game as players, band members, cheerleaders, twirlers, and flag corps. We also appreciate all the fans that traveled to Temple for the game.
We are indeed blessed to have such gifted and talented students, dedicated coaches, teachers, and staff here at Sacred Heart. Overwhelming parental support is also a major factor in the success of all our athletic and academic programs.
We thank everyone for you support of our endeavors here at Sacred Heart, especially our parents, our parishioners, and members of our community and surrounding communities.

Sacred Heart has a history of athletic success at the state level. For 2007, Sacred Heart acquired Coach Joe Cash who led teams to three UIL Stte Track & Field Championships and numerous district titles. In 2007, the Indians began revitalizing the track & field program with fifteen members on the team (7 freshmen, 6 sophomores, 1 junior and 1 senior) none of which had competed in high school track before. To gain experience we competed in three meets prior to the district level. These beginners scored 135 points at the district meet; ten qualified to the regional meet in seventeen different slots from twelve different events. Eight of these qualified to the state meet. Our goal for the future is to become a competitive team at the regional and state levels with the opportunity to win state titles.
