1882: Three Sisters from the congregation of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament came to Hallettsville to open a motherhouse, novitiate, and boarding school for girls . Courses were given for primary, intermediate, and high school levels. Regular classes were taught, as well as music, Latin, Spanish, French, and German.
1892: The new boys' school was built on convent premises.
1926: The Sisters transferred their motherhouse to San Antonio and only the grammar school remained open.
1928: The Sisters sold the buildings to the parish.
1948: A complete high school class was reinstated with a class of eight students graduating from the twelfth grade.
1950: The present school building was completed.
1960: The Junior High Annex was added and the old three-story building was renovated into the cafeteria.
1971: The band hall was built on school grounds.
1974: The kindergarten class was added.
1981: The vocational shop building and gymnasium were added.
1994: The weight room was added.
1995: The high school computer lab was upgraded.
1996: The science lab room was renovated and the pre-kindergarten was added.
1997: The computer-reading lab was upgraded for the PreK- 8.
1998: Online service for the Internet was established and a new cafeteria was added.
1999: The new high school library/media center was completed.
2000: The new elementary school library/media center was completed.
2001: A technology update included the purchase of an additional 40 new multi media computer systems.
2002: Faster Internet service ISDN lines were installed and computers were networked in the computer labs, library media centers, and classrooms.
2004: The school's name was changed to Sacred Heart Catholic School.
